Number Runners is a full service accounting and tax practice committed to providing  professional service to individuals as well as companies in the small to midsize market to clients throughout San Diego County.

Number Runners was established in 1981 under the name Lyttleton & Associates and adopted its current name in 1998. 

Overview of Services:

 Tax Preparation & Planning:

            Every year individuals and companies alike agonize over taxes.  Number Runners through its affiliation with professional organizations and its investment in updated tax software, can ease this burden on the taxpayer.  Our experienced staff is able to accurately and efficiently prepare returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts and estates. 

A key element to tax preparation is planning.  By including tax planning in the overall business plan, you take a proactive approach to your business.   The best time to save money on your taxes is six to twelve months before they are due.  With a tax planning approach, Number Runners can provide expert advise on the tax implications of significant business events.  Such events include the acquisitions of businesses or major assets, changes in organization and management, changes in payroll or employment laws.

Bookkeeping Service:

            We recognize that many businesses cannot afford a full time bookkeeper or accountant.  For such situations we offer a full range of other accounting services to assist you with your daily business requirements.  Our bookkeeping service includes the preparation of monthly financial statements, bank reconciliations, payroll, accounts receivable and payable review.  In addition we prepare the necessary general journal entries.  We help companies structure reports so that they can gage the performance of the overall company or a segment of the company.  

            To best service our clients, as an alternative to working on the client information in house, our staff provides on site bookkeeping as well as interactive accounting through WebEx.

QuickBooks Training and Support:  

            QuickBooks and Quicken software is designed by Intuit to enable small business owners to effectively and efficiently run their business.        

Recognizing that QuickBooks and Quicken for Home and Business have become the financial software of choice for small business, Number Runners has made a commitment to our clients by becoming certified as a QuickBooks Pro Advisor.  As a Pro Advisor we receive training on the software and its applications as well as updates on the latest improvements and upgrades.

To help our clients we provide assistance in a variety of QuickBooks functions including the initial company setup and training on the entry of accounting information including invoicing, receipts, accounts payable, check writing, bank reconciliation, credit card transaction to name a few.  Our training can be done on site at the clients place of business or in our offices.  In addition we provide support via WebEx. 

Payroll Service:

Number Runners offers three levels of Payroll Service. 

1.      Stub Service

Using this service the customer faxes or emails the company time sheet from which we produce the payroll figures and check stubs.  The check stubs are faxed back to the client.  They provide the client with all of the information to print checks off of their system including the payroll and payroll liability checks.

2.      Check System

With the Check Service we use the clients timesheet to prepare actual paychecks and liability checks.  These checks are returned to the client for signature and disbursements.

3.      Trust Account Service          

Using the Account service we prepare the actual paychecks and liability checks that are drawn on a Trust account.  We sign and disburse the checks and the client reimburses Number Runners for the payroll.  We assume the responsibility for the timely filing of the quarterly and year end reports.

·        Business Formation:

Many important decisions are made in starting a new or expanding an existing business.  Choosing the form of the business entity (e.g. S-Corp, Sole Proprietor using an assumed name, Limited liability company etc) has long term tax consequences that need to be considered.  We assist our client by explaining the benefits and draw backs of the various options and once the decision is made, help with the appropriate paperwork.  Examples of services we provide include registering the corporation, maintaining corporate records, applying for an assumed name, and obtaining Federal and State ID numbers.

·        Corporate Good Standing:

For a company to maintain its good standing with the State of California it is required to submit information on a regular basis.  Such information includes but is not limited to Articles of Incorporation, Biennial/Annual reports, statements of registered agents.  At Number Runners we assist our clients in maintaining their corporate standing.

·        Buying or Selling a Business:

When buying or selling a business it is crucial to value the assets of the company realistically and to evaluate the tax ramifications of the transaction.  Having solid asset information and tax planning as the transaction is structured allows either side to address concerns or questions prior to closing.  Some ways that Number Runners can assist in the acquisition/sale transaction is by providing cash flow and ratio analysis and tax information.

·        Various Business Tax Services:

We prepare sales and use tax returns, Federal and State quarterly and annual payroll tax forms (as part of our payroll service), workers compensation reports, 1099 forms and annual summary.

·        IRS Audit Representation:

We at Number Runners will be available to you in your dealing with the IRS or other taxing authorities for periods in which we prepared tax forms or provided other relevant services.  We will assist you in preparing any documents you are required to submit for review and will aid in any audits, negotiations or appeals. 

Estates and Trust Services:

Well thought out estate and gift planning will ensure the orderly transfer of assets to your beneficiaries, security to surviving family and minimize the tax consequence.  We can assist in the planning process and in the preparation of tax returns.

Management Advisory:

                        Through the use of budgets and ratio analysis we provide tools for management’s use to develop and evaluate long-term objectives.  These same tools will show the future impact of planned expansion or investment.

Not-for-Profit Organizations:

                        Number Runners has worked with Not for Profit Organizations and has experience in area specific to this type of entity.  Such experience includes filing for exempt status, meeting Federal reporting guidelines and implementing a Fund accounting system.
